PCV Inline Filter

Any VE guys add this to their engine?
Any problems like odd idling issues I've read about with 4th and 5th gen members?

I wish I had pics of how mine was for my probe. There was litterally about 6 or 7 bottle caps full of oil in my TB boot next to my TB. My tb had oil residue everywhere. I put in a filter cleaned it out real good and the reset my idle (Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and press your brakes afterwards. Wait 30 minutes then hook the battery back up) Once I did the idle relearn it idled rough for about 10 minutes then it ran perfectly fine if not better. I felt better since oil isn't going into my engine the way it was not intended to go in it.

i plan on doing this very soon, im gonna use the home depot thing though seems like its better than the can things, they are used for air compresser lines to get the water out so it dosent mess up the tools

i got the braided hose today, it is a lot better, im eventually gonna cover it up with some black wireloom, i drove like 5 miles yesterday and had a noticble amount of oil in there.

im about to drive 50 miles or so and ill take a pic of the aftermath

one question

when the car is running the oil in the bowl should be moving as i can tell air is going through it??

for some reason there is oil in both hoses, i think its from not having a clamp on the filter so today i put 2 on, i also turned the filter around and ran the car, there was nothign moving in the filter so i guess air wasent passing through it

im also thinking of adding a 2ed filter to the intake tube crankcase hose, whould this also catch a lot of oil?? i have seen them in both places but not at the same time

Something tells me that that's not such a good idea. Are you sure that inline filter is mean to filter out oil? Chances are thats going to impede the air flow for the hot blow-by gasses.

I would go with a catch can instead.

On my max, I ran a hose that bypasses that short metal section right after the pcv valve, so it runs straight from the pcv valve to the intake elbow on the manifold. But adding a sump would be a good idea.

I don't know at all what the exact inner construction and design of the filter unit is, but this is a typical "gravity filter" - IE - you somehow impede the airflow containing the oil vapor in the hose coming from the engine and typically would run it through a kind of "strainer" to allow the oil droplets to collect on that and drop down into the sight-glass section of the unit - you do not actually want any airflow through the sight-glass section as it would be defeating the object and once again vaporizing the already collected oil and transferring it further down the line to the inlet manifold - and you definitely do want the sight-glass to be under the level of the hoses running to/from it.

Question:

We do not yet have emission tests to pass on a frequent basis here in South Africa - but if my logic is right you will be having severe issues trying to pass those emission laws in your patch on Earth if you are able to already collect a significant amount of oil by just driving 5 miles - no?

He might have a lot of cylinder blow-by (worn piston rings).

My max doesn't use any oil after 3k+ miles.
