Clunk on front driver side

Well guys, as a lot of you posted in my thread not too long ago about me changing my control arms.. Changing my passenger side really helped with most of the clunking but the driver side is still making some noise when I go forward, stop, reverse then stop.

Driver/passenger side control arms and swaybar links were changed if it helps but now I hear a lot of noise especially when going 45mph...sounds like those SUV off-road tires and the noise stops when car is moving and turning to a certain side. I still havent done the alignment as I wanna get the clunk fixed before I align it in case I have to do some more work. Also need to change my rear swaybar links but that can wait for now.

I've been told by some that it's strut mounts for the clunking and wheel bearings for the loud offroad tire like noise.

Can any of you offer some fabulous guidance?

TIA

i had a slight clunk sound after replacing my struts/mounts/springs. i went back and tightened the four bolts on the top of the strut tower to specs(imagine that) and it went away

someone on here said that too tight on the strut mounts can be bad but i dont know. for the outer three bolts 29-40 ft/lb and center bolt is 43-58 ft/lb which is good-n-tight

Could be the CV joint on the drivers side driveshaft. I just replaced the passenger CV axle yesterday on mine. It was a rebuilt unit and I only got a little over a year on it. Thank God for AutoZone lifetime warranties!! Usually it starts as a "click click" noise when turning in one direction, but this last one was more of a clunking sound. Mine started making noise initially only over 25mph, then it started happening at all speeds. Check the boots on the axles, but that may not tell as the boots on my bad axle looked perfect when removed. Keep us posted and good luck.

The whole CV axle assy is new, put it in not even 2 months ago..wasnt bad but the boot was ripped so I rather pay a few extra bucks and put the entire thing...I did notice that my passenger side boot just ripped so I'm gonna have to change that soon, I'll do it when I come back since I'm flying out to Colombia this Tuesday and will be back 6/20.

As for the hovering like sound it seems that its the wheel bearings, I'll do those when I get the axle as I believe you gotta pull it out anyway.

Well guys, this MIGHT be my last post here while in the US, if I dont log back on before Tuesday I might be doing so 3-5k miles away
