1992 GXE engine??
Did the 1992 GXE model come with the 190hp engine also?

Nope, only 92-94 SEs.

Nope...All gxe's 89-94 have the sohc 160hp vg engine...89-91 se's also had the 160hp vg engine...

Only the 92-94 se's got the 190hp dohc engine..

did the 92 SE's come in automatic? the reason why i ask is because i saw a 92 maxaim automatic with the engine that has the red strip on the valve cover.

As michael said they do come in automatic,fairly common actually...The rare ones are the 5 speed dohc se...

That red strip means it has a 24 valve dohc engine....
