What happened was he was cruising at 2,500 rpm and the car would jump to 3,000 rpm like it with in neutral for that 500 rpm. To me, it sounds like the tq converter or trans is slipping. It might be time to look for a 5 speed trans and buy the flywheel and clutch, or look in to selling the car and getting a new one.

yeah, shipping would be tough. He has everything for the 5 speed swap, that he bought off Jeff92se a while back. He just needs the trans, clutch and flywheel.

WTF? What does this have to do with his problem?

So your Nissan V6 has 305 lb-ft @ 4000 RPM in STOCK form? I am a little more than that now BTW. Also, RWD > your FWD.

I would go have it checked first, or drive it a bit more and see if it gets worse. If you want another automatic check www.car-parts.com or the 3rd gen classifieds on Maxima.org. But you will spend about the same to buy an auto and have it put in as you would buying a 5 speed and having John put it in, since you have the parts. Then you wouldnt have to worry about the auto breaking again either, better to get it done once and for all.

I feel ya, maybe it is time to put it up for sale! You and that car have not gotten along too great and the price it will cost to paint it, new tires when they go bad, trans, you are looking at thousands. You would be best off to take your system out and sell it for $2,000-$2,500 advertise it with the new motor and know you are selling a reliable car, that will just need some work down the road. Then take the $2,000-$2,500 and throw it down on something you will be more happy with.

What race? we were talking about torque. He is on the other side of the country. It would be a fun race, I am pretty near stock racing a boosted out Maxima and it would be close, what does that say?

turbo, no worries I did not take it serious.

why? it is FWD, better get it to the ground, cause I will be busting 1.9 60s on street tires. It will not happen anyways... My car runs a 13.9 bone stock, the previous owned banged down a 13.7 thats with clutch, wider tires, pro 5.0 shifter, k&n and thats pretty much it. Once the 4:10s go on, adios amigo I have not seen a boosted Maxima run faster than a 13.8 in SoCal and I am talking dyno proven 300+whp Maximas.

Thanks. But you do understand you are comparing a Maxima to a Mustang. This boosted to **** Maxima, will have a hard time with a stock GT...what does that say? Give me 4:10s and exhaust and I am pushing some low 13s/high 12s, boost me with cams and heads and watch me brick 11s. It takes alot less for a Mustang is my point.
