here's the deal, I purchased my 5 speed tranny from a junkyard and unfortunately the parts car is no longer available, but I need to know if it is a LSD or non LSD, is there any way I can tell?? I can't order axles without knowing what the diff. is.... someone please help, I need to order the axles and get this thing on the road before friday. thanks

do you have the old passenger side axle from that tranny?

 

I don't have axles because the junkyard honky wouldn't give em to me, wanted 100 bucks for them. buncha BS.... how about you show me a picture of one that IS LSD and one that ISN'T LSD, then I'll know whats what.

 

There should be a number on top of the bell housing somewhere..It should start with a "R" and end with A or V

The A means non lsd
The V means LSD


The FSM pic above may not be accurate...My trans has no number where the fsm pic shows it to be...

 

On a side note... you MAX is sweet lookin! I especially like the way your BMW lights look. Did you use the CLEAR GTS cover to do that?

 

On the vin plate. Next to the engine code i think it was, if theres a V that means its LSD if it has nothing extra that means its not LSD

 

The car is gone from the junkyard,so he cant look at the vin plate..
