I have a similar problem with my '93 but the windows are all the way up and can barely be moved by hand. Also, if it is just a bad regulator, will the motor still make noise? Or is dead silence when you press the up/down window button an indicator that you need a new motor too?

Thanks!

motor usually makes noise. You can also buy regulators that have new motors in them. I did this for my driver door, since the motor was getting weaker.

Regulators fail frequently (it's an extremely common problem on 3rd gen Maximas), so even if it's just the motor, I would replace them both.

Ah, okay. Good idea. Is there a best place to get the motor/regulator combo for a good price? The best I've seen (off eBay) is about $140. You can get the combo on eBay for under $100 (are they any good?).

Thanks!

I think you can find them much cheaper than that. I bought a regulator with motor for about $60 shipped a few years ago.

Mr [Chasing] Blue Sky -- the junkyard is a bad idea for regulators. These things conk out all of the time and you don't know if it's a new or used one. It would suck to pay a yard for a used regulator, then put it in, only to have it possibly bust on you in a few days/weeks/months.

If you had some free time, it might not be a bad idea to snag a motor or two. They are small and a yard might not charge much. I think they are all the same and the rear motors probably don't get much use.

yeah, I understand its a crapshoot, but I was just going on my experience with an infinity we have, and some of the other cars we got them for. So far no problems, but it is safer to get a new, or rebuilt one.
