Starter and maybe tranny problems???

Well my car crapped out today, perfect timing too. I'm in the middle of an entire overhaul of the car, and today it doesn't start. Here's the situation...I was doing a 3 point turn today because I came up to a dead end. When I put it in reverse, it jerked really hard. I was rolling forward very slowly still, but definetally not enough to cause a jerk this bad. Then, when I put it back in drive it started acting really strangley. I could put the pedal to the floor, but it would only rev really really slowly and only got to about 3000 before I let off. It almost felt like a manual does when you take off from second gear or something. No low end torque, and definetally no quick acceleration like normally. Well this was bothering me so I pulled into a parking spot and turned the car off. Now it doesn't even crank up again. I used a voltmeter and took off the relay for the starter and found that it get's 15 volts when the key is turned to the start position. I also found that the connector that should stay on when the key is in the run position stays at only 2.5 volts. I used a jumper battery pack and sent power to the switch wire for the solenoid and it turns the engine over, but it doesn't stay running, even with the key in the run position. The switch wire is white with a red stripe. I'm out of ideas about what this could be. EXPECIALLY with the rev problem. I had someone put their head down by the relay to see if they could hear it click when I turned the key, and it didn't click. I think the relay could be bad, or a ground to the relay could be bad. I really don't know! HELP!!!!

The relays on my car are about all the same. There's green ones (all alike) and there's blue ones (all alike). Try finding the same color relay somewhere else (say the accessory one under the dash) and switch it out with the bad one and see if it cures the problem. If it does, get a new relay.

HA!!! found the problem. It was a simple ignition fuse. I can't believe it caused so many problems. Sorry Michael I know you told me to do that and like I said it was the first thing I did, but it must have slipped past me on the first check. What pretty much happened was I ran out of ideas and started over, hoping I would catch something and I did.

figured as much since I had the same thing happen to me. I washed my car and water got in the alternator. It blew a fuse and I was able to limp home in safe mode (the thing you had where it felt like the trans was slipping bad). After I turned it off it would not crank again. I think mine was the eng. cont. fuse or something.

Yeah I was checking EVERYTHING too, even the fuel cutoff sensors in the trunk by the drivers side tail light. I'll try to get a diagram of the fuses so I can show you which one is specifically for the radio.
