Factory alarm

I just disconnected the factory alarm by unplugging the switch below the steering wheel. I also disconnected a switch that runs to a small white plastic box right behind the metal anti-theft box because it's running through the same set of wires as the metal box. Anyone know what the white plastic box is and if I'm not supposed to disconnect that one? The car does start and there's no warning lights on.

I'm also interested in the answer to this one. My factory alarm goes off at random times when the door is opened with the key, even though it's not suposed to.

I am not sure what the "white box" purpose is...but as long as there is no problems with the car..let it ride..

Well today there was a problem. Battery warning light coming on, dash lights went out and clock being very dimmed. Is this somehow related to disconnecting the white box behind the metal anti-theft unit?

The symptoms seem to be typical of a bad alternator. It just seems too coincidental thet it happened when I unplugged that white box.

It's the Time Control Unit. As you can see from the table below, you probably want to leave it plugged in.

Thank you gentlemen. Honestly I'd left it unplugged if it wasn't leaving the interior pitch dark at night. It gets rid of the annoying seatbelt and ignition key warning sounds.

Kill the door open/key in chime

From my site. Originally from Craig Brace I think...

I hate this supposed feature of many cars. The following mod will still give you the door open/headlights on chime so you don't run your battery down.

First, locate the time control unit under the driver's dashpad. Find the yellow wire with the blue stripe and cut it. You want to cut it where you have enough room to reattach it if you accidentally cut the wrong one or change your mind later. Thats all there is to it. No more of that incessant chiming when you jump out of the car and leave the keys in the ignition.

The seatbelt chime might be easy to kill also. I'd have to look around in the FSM to see if I can figure out how to do it.
