Air wrench monkeys! Argh!

Hey folks! Dilemma. While swapping wheels car to car, one of my hex type lug nuts split on the car. How do I get this puppy off without wrecking the rim? (Enkei RS-6)

Try banging a socket in there, If you have some space. Then use your socket wrench. Thats what i did when i lost my wheel lock adapter.

Zero space outside of the lug nut, perhaps enough to get a feeler gauge in there. Thanks for the reply though!

I would drill out the stud. Right through the nut. Good luck.

Take it to a tire/wheel shop and see if they can help you out.A drill is also a good way. I think you have caught on now, but for everyone else, don't hit tuner lugs with air.

I'll have to tap out the stud then, the car is immobile with a bent valve. Thanks for the ideas guys. Maxima.org FTW!

cut a slit in the nut and use a screwdriver to twist it off

A really fine dremel, or the right air chisel should be able to do that. I would just hit it with a nice drill though...clean-like.

I've cut out a wheel bearing with a dremel. I thought there wasn't any room to get a dremel around the nut withouth hitting the wheel.

It doesn't have to be a cut-off wheel on the end...maybe a grinding stone or something.?.

I had to drill two studs out on my Nova, it works but it sucks, probably your best bet though...

I'll drill it out as a last resort. Going to try getting the nut to turn one way or the other.

Thanks for all the ideas guys!

Try a die Grinder with a very small bit that way when you get close to the threaded stud you won't destroy the threads. You should be able to hit it with a hammer and screwdriver to split it in half. good luck
