had a wierd offer recently

buddy of mine that i bought my max from has a friend that has a 93 SE. has a lifter going out on it and to make a long story short he has always like my max which is why he bought one. thinking about trading straight across car for car minus my body kit... now here is the thing that has me wondering. i already have planned to rebuild the engine come income tax time on my car regardless. so should i do it and start over from scratch or keep my GXE and keep going from where i am at. i mean besides the kit i have CF dash kit shaved doors and 3rd light, tint, BMW headlights and mirrors, lowered on Eibachs, alarm upgrade Y-pipe mid pipe and cat & muffler and a CAI, oh and i forgot about the strut bar. now he has a bone stock SE. now the thing that has me interested is it has the sunroof and it is a 5 speed. which is what i wanted to begin with. now he is all half AZZ about the idea but it really has me thinking. you know i would do it if someone was really interested on doing it. so if anyone interested let me know or do you all think it is a dumb idea?

I'm going to have to agree, VTC noise is mistaken for lifter noise all the time. I would try grounding them (do a search) and advancing the timing a little simply to see if you like the performance of it enough before going into the head after a lifter

Why are you even thinking about this?? After you trade cars post pics please!!! J/K

And let me add, mods on our cars hardly ever add resale value.

it's not the resale value i was thinking of and all depending who you talk to most mods to cars hurt the value although most pay pay more for a modded car. but that is another story. only reason I mentioned was all the time i have into it don't really have a large amount of money into it with the exception of the body kit and that's not that much either.

i would do it in a heat beet but his wife dozen't want to because they just put like $1200 in a new clutch. he wants to do it REAL BAD but he is so whipped on his wife it won't happen unless he blows the engine first. which would make me not want to do it....

hmm, so you're going to give up well over $1000 in mods on your car and all the time you've spent on it just to get a different engine that admittedly has problems and you're going to have to dump another $1000 in as soon as you get it? :loco:

well for everything thing if i had a shop do it it be probably like $1000 in mods but i don't ever pay for retail for things if i don't have to and the work i always do myself unless it is something above my Skill level and even still than i try to put a hand in it. so with the exception of the body kit i only have around $500 actually in it. i won't lie the tint was on the car and my buddy i bought the car from did do some of the exhaust work before i bought it. i mean the headlights and mirrors i only have like 100 and most of that was the bulbs. so all and all its not a terrible loss and as for the engine i planned on rebuilding mine regardless so doing that one wouldn't be any different and trading all that for a SE with more power sunroof and a 5 speed.... yeah to me it is worth about $5-600

but like i said his wife won't let him do it so no loss. maybe i will try to add a turbo for next years goal

Dang it, I told you to buy my car. I am like 4 hours away.

My car is already modded and has a sunroof and a 5-speed.

Plus, it includes a set of studded snow tires, winter is just around the corner and I know you guys usually get it bad out there.
