If you have the money get a fluke...but if you don't want to spend too much money you can pick up a simple Actron or similar at your local parts store for $40.

Fluke is the way to go. Ive got a 73 III. Always accurate and quick response. Ive got a wavetek too no problems with accuracy, but its slow.

I just got like a $20-30 radio shack unit like 5 years ago. Great little unit that lasted up until just recently. Plenty accurate enough for most automotive work if its not serious work.

prices are going to range like you would never believe. Fluke is a good industry standard so to speak, but they are very expensive. You are better off getting a cheap meter, but not that cheap! or it wont last long/be accurate. I would expect to pay about $40 dollars or so for a ok multimeter. I dont know if you will find just a ohmmeter anymore. most are multimeters. They measure voltage, amperage, resistance, continuity, and sometimes even more i.e. temperature.

what are you using the meter for?

oh yeah definately get one that is battery operated. (portable) most are 9v battery powered

I used to have a cheap Sears analog multimeter until it crapped out. Now I use a Fluke that I carry all the time.

So far the 30 to 40 dollar price range look good. Fluke I could get a my job.(Electrical supply warehouse) Very expensive. If one that costs less can do the job then I could live with that. Just wanted to treat myself on some kind of tool for my MAX. So I decided on a ohm meter. Plus I think its an important tool.Thank you for your responses. Anybody have pics of there ohm meters.

2 Positives for Radio Shack

We called Fluke today to get a quote on the FM88. Was 399.95 plus we add 10% and tax. So thats like about $447. Only thing bad it took 2 to 3 weeks for delivery. Price must of dropped since you brought it.
