VG phenolic spacer interest thread

Ive been talking to Aaron and he'll get some VG spacers made if we can get 8-10 guys interested.

The gains would be similar to the VE, and maybe even more because the VG has such a big plenum with lots of heat soak. But this spacer would basically add power every where and keep making that power even in the summer heat. But PM him if you have any Q's.

These can be ready in a few weeks if you guys want them that fast, but he needs a VG volunteer in NC or FL first.

The price would be similar to the VE ($145) but may be more or less depending on materials.

I for one know this would be a very worth while mod and I'm definitely getting one. So we need 7 more ppl.

The VG crowd might be showing more interest than the VE guys.

But right now, I am already starting the development for the 02-03 3.5L Maximas. I can design two kits at the same time. So don't feel I'm putting you on a back burner. I'm not! I will get this going if there is interest shown in the VG crowd!

You could count me in. Where in Fl would Aaron need a car for testing? I can't drive TOO far though. If it's in Northern/Central Fl then I'm outta luck.

I am located just south of Jupiter in Palm Beach Gardens. I am here on a business trip until Tuesday.

I can schedule something if you want to drive all the way up here. I know it's a little bit of a drive just for an hour of measuring and design work. But if you think you can meet me before I leave back to Eastern NC, then I will be happy to speed this process up and get started before I leave FL. Just send me a PM and we will schedule something.

If you can't meet me before this Tuesday, then I will have to wait until I get back to NC to find a test vehicle.

Oh no problem. I will be leaving FL in less than a week. I will start searching for a test vehicle in Eastern NC soon. I know there is one VG in Goldsboro (Eastern NC). I might try to look him up since he doesn't frequent the org often.

Thanks for your interest. Keep them coming guys! It's not cost efficient to only make a run of 5 kits. The price will more than double b/c of increased CNC work. But if I run 20 or more at once, then I will be able to keep the costs down for you guys.

make em and fleabay em.
though about 10 days after you fleabay the first one, there will already be Chinese knock offs on fleabay for $1 over your cost

No Id say an hour or so. Depends on how long you take to clean the parts off and how many times you've pulled the plenum off before.

Yes it will make quite a bit of difference, especially in the summer, as it wont let the plenum heat up nearly as much as it usually would.

Alright. I will start my search for a test vehicle in Eastern NC. If anybody knows of anybody, please let me know.

I will not be able to design this kit until I do my preliminary testing. I will take temps readings to see if installing these spacers will show a noticable gain. I will also need to design the entire kit using this test vehicle. After I get them made, I will need that test vehicle to come back to my shop and we will do dyno testing.

Thanks for everybody's interest. Please keep the posts coming!

He wanted 8-10 to show interest so we've got the minimum. If more people are interested by all means keep posting! I'll add you to the list so its more organized who wants one and such.

Aaron time to get busy huh?

Yeap. I've already started the design phase. I hope someone from Eastern NC will step up and provide their car for testing. Without it, I can't make these spacers. Thanks for everybody's interest!

I already have all the parts I need to design the spacers.

Charlotte is over 4 hours west of me. So don't bother driving that far. I am hoping to find someone in the surrounding cities (Greenville, Goldsboro, Wilson, Kinston). I see VGs on every street corner where I live. I know someone will turn up!

Too bad my mom doesn't have a Max - she lives in Goldsboro. And how soon do you think these will be done? Because if it's gonna be a few weeks out, you can count ME in also. I just hit "broke-as-f**k" status, so I won't have money 'til after my b-day (Mar 13) at the earliest.

Maybe just try to buy a beater-*** vg car to do prototyping on.

If I get my hands on a test vehicle today, then I think I can have these made and tested in 4 weeks. That is IF I don't run into any design snags along the way.

Alex, if I have trouble finding someone on the org with a local VG, then I know a kid that has a VG Auto that's a part of a car club in my home town. They hang out in the grocery store parking lot almost every night! He seems to be pretty nice. I'll try to hit him up. I would LOVE to use a VG 5spd to do my dyno testing on though.
