ECU and RPM help.

Hey guys,

This is a flamer question but is the ecu under the dash?

Also i have a window switch for my nitrous but i dont know what output the RPM is on the ecu, does anyone know what prong it is or how i can connect the window switch in a different way?

Thanks.

TACH LIGHT GREEN/BLACK @ TRANSMISSON ECU, See NOTE *4

NOTE *4 TRANSMISSON ECU (Electronic Control Unit) IS LOCATED BEHIND CENTER CONSOLE ABOVE ENGINE ECU, WIRE IS FACING DRIVER SIDE OF VEHICLE IN BLUE PLUG.
PS: only applies to A/T cars

Never said it'd be easy.
I leave the tach wire unhooked alot of the time on my own cars when I do remote starters.

distributor. I've also seen it tapped off of a fuel injector.
doesn't matter really, so long as it is something that gets trigger once everytime the motor turns over once.

Ok, if you just asked that question then I HIGHLY recommend against do this to your car.
Pick up a manual and learn some basics before you start playing with nitrous.

i figured it out right after i asked the question... i was in one of those panic modes when i dont think and just ask questions.

Everytime the rotor hits the 1st plug it counts a revolution...

So would i splice RPM switch into plug 1?

Actually, this DOES help you - whether you have a 5sp(which I have) or auto-tragic (which I used to have). The wire is the same for both iterations. I simply made the comment to Brian because it's kinda hard to find (that wire).

But once you find it - and this is going on the premise that you have a DMM handy -meter it with your DMM set to AC voltage and the engine running. You should see the RPM's rise and fall with the press of the gas pedal.

I can give you a "pinout" (location of the wires on the ECU by number) if you REALLY need it. But going by what internetautomar gave you regarding wire color, and what I'm suggesting here should get you up and running without the pinout stuff.

Ok so my thought is to take the speedo out and see if the light green/black wire is there, then hope its right and cut it and slpice it, if its not right then ill just reconnect them and try to trace it.

BTW i dont have a DMM (is that a voltometer thing?) so im just going to have to guess and check.

Thanks for the help!
Alex

P.S. Nupe u going to GG?
