Underdrive Pulley Belts

What belts are needed for a '92 Maxima SE with an underdrive pulley setup?

(All belts w/ belt #'s would be very appreciated)

don't know about DOHC but his SOHC was completely wrong. Gates and napa has the same part number because they're all made by Gates. Gates has number 25 in front so when you look at Napa, ignore 25. These are one I got:

UDP Napa Belts
PS 25 - 040395
AC 25 - 040450
Alternator 25 -040285

It took me several trips to Napa to get the right parts. What a pain, hope this save you from making multiple trips if your ride is SOHC:

Please NOTE PS belt was VERY TIGHT to put on. You will get away with this number but I recommend you get 1 size bigger than 040395. Whatever that number is. Somebody need to tell Griag to update his site.

Thanks for the help. I have decided to just run the factory setup so it doesn't affect the alternator.

*note: For those searching for this, they can find it now as the title of the thread is for the underdrive pulley belts. There wasn't a thread dedicated to this. Look what happened, too. There's some extra info posted on the subject. I'm getting rather tired of reading the same people complain about "searching" when I paid money to help support this site. I honestly think you should leave the b;tching & moaning to the one's who don't support the site. Savvy?

My 230,000 mile old alternator puts out 70A at idle with the UDP on. puts out over 100A at 1200rpm.
I wouldn't worry about the UDP affecting alternator output. (And yes, I've said this before in the other threads regarding the UDP, so there's still no new information in this thread.)

Are you a woman? Not only do you miss my point completely, you want to argue semantics and then demand apology! Sounds like you are either a woman, or a woman trapped in an pretentiously arrogant little boys body. I'm just happy that there's no such immaturity found on the Porsche forums. There is a lot of maturity found from owners of these cars. Some of them have answered the same question at least a hundred times and aren't so pretentiosly arrogant enough to whine "do a search..." like the nerdy boys back in middle school.

@ Matt93SE - It still makes the alternator run differently than the factory specs. I'm doing this project with longevity in mind, so I've made the decision not to install it based on the fact that it affects the alternator in ways in which it wasn't designed to be affected.

Settle down there beavis,if you can't take a little harmless ribbing, then you might need stop posting in here and keep to your uptight little porsche forum...I meant no malice by my post,it was just a friendly little ribbing..

Also, the udp does not change alternator output, many hundreds of members run udp without any adverse effects on the alty or any other accessories on the car...

If your so worried get a smaller (and possibly alu/lighter) alternator pulley. This will run the alt at or much closer to factory spec.

This will give you the same benefits as a normal UDP just not as much power (1-3hp?)to the wheels and your alt will never know the difference.

I've had a UDP on my car for almost 80,000 miles now. purchased the car with 150k on the odo and installed the UDP within 5000 miles. The alternator is now at 230,000 miles and the only maintenance I've done to it is have a shop replace the brushes inside it.

The only thing the UDP does to the alternator is make it spin slower. That actually REDUCES wear on the alternator, as the main failure mode in many alternators is bearings. the vibrations from bad bearings cause the electronics to fail.

I've taken all of this into consideration before and after installing the UDP. again, 80,000 miles with ZERO problems says a lot to me.

And by the way, I've got a 2500W RMS competition stereo system in the car too. Optima Yellow Top battery and a 2F electrolytic capacitor (not one of those BatCap POSs) to help keep everything in line. I competed in IASCA for years, and have a World Finals podium finish under my belt to go with it.

I'm also an Electrical Engineer by trade, with quite a bit of mechanical engineering and hands-on mechanic experience. I've got the theory and expertise to back up any of my hunches. So feel free to talk all the crap you want about how or why you're scared it won't work because it differs from stock by a small percent.. I'll come back with real world experience and the numbers to prove why it will.
