E124 diode and lighting mod
I've been looking at the FSM, and from what I can tell, applying a 12v current spliced into any part of the parking light, sidemarker, and clearance light system will inadvertantly light up everything on the whole line, no matter where I splice the current in, because there are no diodes in that system preventing backflow, whereas there are in the cornering light system (E124 on the harness). Am I right about that?
I'm doing a custom wiring job on my sidemarker/corner lights that activates on the touch of the turn signal switch, regardless if the parking/headlight switch is OFF, 1st, or 2nd. But I only want to light up one corner of the car when the switch is off, but wiring it up would make the all four corners come on, I'm afraid. I haven't tried it yet, but based on the FSM diagrams I think that's what is going to happen.
So if my hypothesis is correct... does anyone have an extra E124 from a parts car that I can buy (please leave like 4" of wire on the harness, so I can just cut my existing wiring and splice it inline with wirecaps) and have shipped? Otherwise, where can I buy two diodes with a high enough rating to use on a car lighting system? Radio shack appeared to only have small, weak diodes. I've already got the necessary relays.
Also I'm considering 2 different layouts for the system. One will put the corners on dim when combo switch is off, the other will only affect the orange sidemarker.

thats interesting. I made my cornors and my blinkers alternate when i turn on my turn signal. I made custom bulb holders in the cornors. so the running lights are white LEDS. but when i turn on the turn signals the orange LEDs over power the white and alternate with my oranage LED blinkers.

got my spare E124, started to wire it but ran out of wire. I'll replace those stupid yellow caps with soldered quick-disconnects as soon as i get ahold of a solderer. Anyhow, the diode works as expected so far. The resistance is OK seeing as I haven't melted anything yet, and everything is normal brightness.
Once I finish, more pics, and videos. I'm wiring it as Modified Setup #2.
