New Magnaflow Muffler

Just bought a twin tip magnaflow muffler off of Dhunterx and it sounds pretty good. I don't have any pics yet because I didn't manage to get any while it was daylight; but I'll for sure have some up tomorrow. I did, however manage to get a video clip of the sound in the car. It's pretty throaty, but it is a bit loud for my taste; the drone anyway. Here is the link;

*New*In Car Video (Downshift 3rd to 2nd) Of Magnaflow Exhaust*New*

Ps. I'm the driver. Not the loud one

edit: new video's + piics

Damnit, now I regret having to take it off in the first place. In that video, it sounds 100x quieter. I had a droning from HELL when it was installed. Could never figure out why.

*edit* Then again, just realized you have a VE, so that could make a difference in sound?

Well, the drone is pretty loud, but only while cruising 70+, but I do little commuting; mostly all city. I like the sound of it, but I did feel a tiny bit of loss in low end from a stop, downshifting from 3rd to 2nd, or 2nd to 1st though it's sexy

Your VG sounds fine, but yeah... The VE is just soo smooth. But I do sometimes miss driving my VG, the low end was fun in traffic and what-not. But I have a feeling I wouldn't like the muffler on the VG.

I kind of had the opposite effect of droning with that magnaflow. It would drone like mad in the low RPMS, and when you get past 3k, it sounded soooooo nice. But for normal commuting...it would make my ears bleed.

Past 3k It is good, but usually crusing 70mph I have about 2300RPM's or so (that of which I would have in say 3rd gear at say 40mph) But the thing with city is it's constantly changing so it doesn't really have a chance to sit there and hum at me. Either way, I like it, thanks! haha.

Yeah, it's just the muffler, and it's non-resonated. If you youtube magnaflow there is a 1991 with a magnaflow exhaust you might be interested in; it sounds pretty decent.

Flowmaster 40 sounds better than the magnaflows in my opinion.

Thats not even close to as loud as my straight piped 6.2L N/A Diesel. That thing will bust out windows.

Sorry it took so long, but I got around to taking a video looking at the gauges. This is just 2nd gear, slowly depressing the pedal until floored at the end...

something just sounds like it opens up bigger at 3Krpm and broadens the sound. Is that the VTCs in action, or when you floored it? Or something else.. And what's that clicking sound at the very beginning.., and are you MT or AT.. i'm thinking AT based on the sound of the change in RPM in the other in-car video, and the lack of gearshift/clutch sounds when you went into 3rd and 4th at the end of this video.

I was slowly pushing the pedal down the whole time, probably floored right around 5500 RPMS. The clicking at the beginning was a combination of the blinker and my CV Joints. Still need to do those

And yes, I have an automatic, but yes. Right around 3500 RPMS I'll notice an increase in pull I'm guessing from the VTC's.

now that you mention it, I can hear it suddenly get louder when you floored it. After a while of playing a racing video game I noticed that RPM dictates engine pitch, but throttle position dictates volume. Like, I noticed that WOT @ 3k is louder than an agressive decel-downshift, rolling down through 4k. But something must be going on power-increase-wise from 2500-3500, the it's almost like two different engines' sounds crossfaded over one another matching RPM for RPM, you know what i mean?

Yes....The muffler also adds to the sound at higher rpm's, almost sounds rumbly I guess when it's floored... This is a video of downshifting, you'll notice a difference.

Did you make sure runway #3 was clear for takeoff before making those clips?

That wing needs to go...The muffler by itself wouldn't be bad, but combined with that gross rear wing you are getting dangerously deep into ricer territory...Repent the rice now, ditch the wing and put electrical tape over the holdes for the time being!!!

my muffer broke off today.. After 3 years the weld didnt hold anymore. I went to open it up out of 3rd and a loud pop and backfire sounded and then when I went to look the exhaust waz just hangin by the 2 hangers. But the guy at shop really liked my max he actually use to be a maxima owner. He had a 91 SE. He doesnt like how my swap looks though to sloppy (no gonna mention any names ) He was looking at how the engine rocked so bad and he thinks having the tranny mounts bad broke my exhaust weld but who knows...
