Mine was stuck for years, I finally went on ebay, spent $18, got a new mast and had it working again after 20 minutes of work.

Hey if I'm not mistaken I believe you might be in the wrong forum as you have a 2000 and you're in the 1989-1994 section.

Try hitting going to forum.maxima.org and hit 5th Generation 2000-2003

Mine goes up about 4 inches and stops. But I can pull it out all the way and it's all crusty. I'll try to clean it like someone suggested and see what happens. But it's good to know I can buy a new one for $20.

Well get this mine stoped working while my parents owned the car and I replaced it with a aftermarket powered antenna and one cold wet morning the antennas gears froze up or became brittle and when my dad went to start the car the antenna spun and spun till all its gears were toast

So I was mad with my dad because the antenna was only probably 3 weeks old!!
Now I have a manual antenna and I just recently backed out of our garage to fast when the door was still going up and I bent the mast forward!

So I just got out mad and spun it around to slant backward and called it a day!

Well Ive had satellite radio for 4 years now, and probably havent listen to FM in about that long. I want to remove my external antenna but Im paranoid of some type of emergency in my area that might only be broadcast on FM. What type of internal antenna did you use?

I used a powered antenna from carquest. It has sticky tape that you mount it to the window with. Its very small and hardly seen if you don't know what you are looking for.

It picks up much better than the factory antenna as well.

Can you post a link to it? Or if you have a part number. Do you remember how much it cost?

no I cant. No I don't. Go by your local carquest, look in their catalog under antennas and its the only one that is powered and window mount. I think I got it for $25 or so but I get a pretty good discount there. I think it probably retails for $35-$40. If I run across my carquest catalog I will get the part number but I haven't seen that thing in a while.
