Tranny leak

Tranny leak

Can anybody tell me if putting a stop leak fluid in my auto tranny would do more harm then good ? I dont have the cash to take care of it right now it leaks only when car gets hot, ive been driving for a while i park in my garage and later i find a puddle. Please help. Thank you J. Alejandro

the stop leak stuff usually just makes problems worse in the long run. I'd advise you to stay away from it.

Try looking under your car and see if you can figure out where the leak is. often it's something simple, like a $5 hose that's leaking at a fitting or an axle seal. the seal itself is about $15, and it'll take you an hour to replace.

unless it's the front pump seal leaking. they , as matt said, are all easy to get at and fairly cheap to fix.
most of the gaskets/seals will cost you LESS than a bottle of stop leak.

I'll check on it i'll have to have the engine n tranny washed first tosee were the problem is. Thanks for the advice.

where is the leak? Have you found out that exact location? A very common place for leak to occur is around the seal where the passenger axle goes into the tranny.

I believe its coming from behind the tranny, have to clean it first to look.

if it looks like it's behind the tranny, then it's very likely an axle seal leaking (it's near the back of it), or the "oil pan" gasket on the top of the tranny is leaking.
