92 SE test drive

Just test drove it and was looking for a little guidance on five things.
1. Temp selector switch is gone, unfortunately stuck all the way right so I can't check the a/c.
2. Can hear an audible pop when I shut off the stereo, obviously an amp issue but I was wondering if anyone had dealt with it.
3.Door locks were jumping around some, I assume door lock timer.
4.Is the sunroof supposed to stop halfway when its closing?
5.There was something on the driver front floor of the trunk. It looked stereo related, is this normal and something I hadn't heard of?
I plan to call my local dealer and get pricing on these but I was just wondering if anyone had some type of experience with them. Which ones should I be able to fix myself, and which ones will I have to get my mechanic to look at? I know I have read posts about the door lock timer before, and I was hoping I could get the temp selector from a junkyard, for an easy fix. Also I am going to get it to my mechanic later this week, is there anyway to check the exhaust studs? Any other suggestions of things to check out? Anyways thanks for the help, CS

I am contending with #1 at this very moment. What may have happened is the cable controlling the temperature has bound up. You may either have to replace the temperature control cable or (worst case) the entire assembly.

Regarding this lever, here's what I gather the deal is: I bet the **** itself came off, but the lever is still recessed inside the climate control unit. Go to a junkyard and take the **** off one from a salvaged Maxima. Put it back on your car. Then, try moving the lever. If it doesn't move - DON'T PANIC. It in all likely hood just needs to be greased. I know it goes against what you're thinking. To those who have a bound temperature lever, take a Q tip and grease inside the seem where the lever slides. Use regular grease (like from a grease gun). Apply it liberally. I bet this fixes the problem. I highly doubt that the cable got bound up.
I jumped to the conclusion of replacing the whole unit in my g/f's 92 SE when her lever would not go to "cold" I pulled the unit out part way and manipulated the lever from underneath. It moved fine. I came to the conclusion that it simply needed greasing from the FRONT. I would have never needed to disassemble to get to it.
I bet yours was stuck in the past and someone tried too hard in moving it and snapped the **** off. I did the same to the 92 and was able to push it right back in (nothing broke). If the lever itself broke, then you'll need a new unit. A local junkyard in my area is charging 30 or 40 for it. You may also want to ask Matt93GXE if he would sell you his.
NUMBER 2
It is likely a Bose amp issue. Pick up another speaker while you're at the bone yard. You may also want to try cleaning your volume **** by blowing air into it.
NUMBER 3
Describe problem more. When did they jump? By themselves? When you went to unlock them?
NUMBER 4
It is supposed to stop when it's about 85% closed. Simply let off the button and push it again. It's a safety feature I think.
NUMBER 5
Does it look like a rubber roller? If so, yes it's normal. I believe it is there to mellow out the ride and give the car a solid feel.

Yeah I was thinking I would probably be able to remedy the temp selector problem without buying the entire assembly. However I plan to go to him with part prices to talk him down. The door locks worked fine for a while then, driver and sometimes passenger wouldn't unlock with the switch. Then they started re-locking on their own after I unlocked them.
Those things I can deal with but I had a much larger problem this morning driving it to my mechanic. Downshifted to second to slow for a stop sign, while accelerating it cut back on me. Ease up on gas and get in it again and the engine actual cut off. Did it about two more time in the fifteen minute drive to the mechanic, feels almost like the speed limiter was cutting in, but I was only at about 35 when it happened. Hoping to find out the problem, really want the car now. Anybody had similar things happen before? This is the reason why I had hoped to find a car on the site, so I would know somebody had taken care of it and would tell me the things that were wrong instead of me hoping to discover them. Thanks again for everybody's input. CS
