seatbelt
I don't think the 88s had auto seatbelts.
89+ Nissans have lifetime warranty on seatbelts. I had to throw a bit of a fit at the dealership and talk with the service manager, but I got mine replaced for free.

Maybe its just worded like that: lifetime warranty, a warranty in case your lifetime is not extended by the use of a seatbelt.
But seriously, I never heard of that warranty before, so its great to know that something can be fixed for free while I drink coffee and walk around in awe of new cars.
The shoulder belt doesnt wind itself up very well when released, its spring must be worn from age (where have I heard that before...
), would they replace that or does it still count as "working"?

I thought a lot of 2nd gens were floaters therefore they did not have automatic seatbelts and the USDM Maximas did...
do I have the story straight?
Anyway, I'm with mikekantor on that question...if the belt doesnt retract itself when released...would that be considered for free repair under warranty? Mine has to be pulled and pushed in little by little
Yeah dude it sucks the way you have to inch it in there. But then I started thinking, do I really want some dingbat pulling apart my interior?
Even if they agreed its not like they would just give you the parts to run off with, they are liable for the quality of the labor. I'm about to start some electronic mods on the center console, it would be real lovely to have them junk all that up.

hm, I'll volunteer to go to dealership and find out
beside, I wouldn't mine having new seatbelt mechanism
EDIT: JUST CALLED DEALERSHIP, they will NOT honor any warranty if its damaged due to an accident BUT if thats not the problem then they honor EVERYTHING.
Mike they offered just now to make an appointment for me to replace the retracting mechanism free of charge!

You should look up the closest dealership to you and give em a call with the same question, find out if they replace faulty seatbelt sensors that go off randomly as well.
My seatbelt light and chime go off for no reason but I just dont wanna go the Craig Brace route for this one..

i stopped fast to park once which triggered the shoulder belt lock (which is a moving ball that engages a tooth)and during the hard stop my passenger
opened his door which triggered the auto belt which moved half way but was stuck because the hard stop triggered the belt lock and it wouldnt de-tract the extra bit to finish the auto belt length i had to un click the shoulder from the anchor and it finished moving and still works but i thought it was broken for like 5 seconds

Hey Maximagician, mine has done the same thing before once or twice in the time I've had the car which will be 2 years this september. I'm still gonna take mine to the dealership and tell em everything wrong with my seatbelts
