Yay, New Car. (Kinda?)

So I've been following a f/s thread for about 4 months now for a wrecked VE-5 (Swapped) and I finally got it yesterday. It's from a nice guy named Matt, he's a fellow .orger but I don't think he comes on much anymore.

Anyway; here it is:

The tranny has been rebuilt not too long ago, has an ACT Stage 1 Organic Clutch. ASP Underdrive Pulley. Hawk Brake Pads. Yokohama YK420 Performance Tires. Black Leather Interior. Among other things... I'm pretty happy with it and The tranny will soon be going into my Pearlmax.

Ahhh, the neighbors all think I'm craazyyy

You already have a 5 speed don't you? If not, I understand. I hope you didn't pay more than $400 for that thing though.

Looks like a big project. It's always kinda sad to see a Maxima smashed like that.

Yeah, I only paid $350 and he threw in some stuff + towing.

The swap definitely looks fun, but I'm basically going to strip the car before I start on that. (Cut away front, take off fenders, hood etc... he offered to come help if I really found myself in a bind)

Keep an eye out in the classifieds if you need any stock black interior/tail light parts or anything.

Nice... should be a fun learning experience for ya. Make sure you strip it down like you said and make sure you take the time to do it the right way

I haven't decided yet, The front lip actually has no structural damage so I may just repaint the whole kit and use it. Depends on my financial situation... Pearl is expensive

Man VG's are the shiiiiiiiiiit. Don't sell that motor short, it's a detuned beast waiting for the right owner to let it loose. Brian's just jelous they didn't put his engine in the 300zx.....jealous and bitter.

so you're buying it in the end?
have fun, it didn't sound like a bad deal, but the prospect of doing a timing belt and fuel pump at the same time turned me off from it big time.
now you need to return the favor and find me a VE :P

hmm did you happen to wind up with the leather I gave Chris? Just wondering since that is the same style and the upper back is the only part that has any real sun damage.

Hmm, If my cousin buys my GXE it's going in that. But if he doesn't I'm willing to part. The rear seat top is a little hardened, and it's a tiny bit lighter than the rest, but it doesn't have any cracks surprisingly. You could probably just get away with conditioning the top to soften it up and be done.

So, you got that car, eh? I had my eye on it, but then the kids tuition came due and I don't really have room for it at our new house (rental). BTW, I'm looking for a rear disk swap and ebrake cables if you don't need the parts. Let me know.

Also, I have a lead on another car- '93 SE 5spd w/ 180k and lots of new parts. It's local (Gainesville) but has a blown headgasket. What would you pay for it?

yeah...well the only thing brown now is the dash and I really don't think my cousin is going to care that much. Besides, the brown one is in better condition.

Wayne, why didn't you swap over black carpet? Although mixing and matching brown and black doesn't look great. The carpet really helps in my opinion.

It's the same sytle as 94maxshima's leather..

Truthfully,I would rather have my original ribbed/poofy tan leather the car came with(or any tan leather),but i have found the 3rd gen tan leather(especially the poofy kind) to be quite rare in the yards.

I am comtemplating going with tan cloth seats,i like how comfortable my wifes cloth seats are in her gxe compared to my old stiff leather seats,i also notice they(cloth seats) keep your body planted in the seat better in the curves..

Nope,I do have black floor mats though, they seem to help a little to match the seats to the interior better.

Hmm... I always thought the GXE's cloth was kind of hard and not very soft. I like seats you sink into a little bit so you feel more "planted" I've never driven in the tweed seats so I don't know. But So far, Velour is my favorite material maxima's have used for seats. And velour door inserts don't seem to age as long as they don't have cigarette burns.

I love my velour seats. I had black hard leather and I swapped them out, they definitely hold me better in the twisties then the leather.
