I Hate BOSE!!!
Hey everyone, I just bought a 1992 Max SE the other day and the back speakers were blown out. This wasn't a problem because I already had plenty of stereo equipment that could go in. I've been working on putting in a headunit, equalizer, 6.5 components, and 6x9s for the past couple of days and finally got it all in. As I was doing that, I realized how much I hate BOSE. They make it nearly impossible to change anything. I took out the Bose pods in the doors and built plates to fit the 6.5" woofers and mounted the tweeters up higher in the door. If that wasn't hard enough, I loved how the wires going into the Bose Headunit were different from the standard colors. I had to test to see which wire was which. I finally got it all in now and it sounds really good. my only problem now is getting through the firewall with my 4 guage wire. I've done a search on here and saw that quite a few people were running it through the fender. I don't really like that idea and would prefer doing something else. I'll probably end up drilling through. If anyone has any other suggestions, feel free to respond.
I think this is a really good site, it has helped me quite a bit already and I've only owned the car for four days!!! I really like my Max so far and I hope that it will last me for quite a while. Alright, I'll stop rambling now. Sorry for the long message about Bose but I really needed to vent. It took me close to 15 hours to get all of that in and I was getting a little bit frustrated. Please respond with other suggestions on getting through the firewall. Thanks.

Yeah, so the Bose sytem rocked man, too bad you didn't get to experience it. And yes, they did make it a complete pain in the *** to change it with their wires and amps and everything else. But hey, whatcha guna do (except get upset at it)?
But about running the wire... I've got 2 gauge running from my battery all the way to my trunk. You know how much fun it is to work with the 4 gauge, so imagine how much fun i must have been having. Basically your best bet is to get an angle drill and a nice sized metal drilling bit, and get to work. I ran mine through by the drivers side in the firewall, there's a pretty open space there, and it shoots out near your feet, but higher up so you never hit the thing, then just run it down the side of the car, near the trunk release, under the back seat, etc etc. It works out real well. Good luck.
