i read this 2x already in 2 different issues. but Sport Compact Car mags say the DOHC 300ZX motor is the VG30DETT, but here i learned the SOHC 3rd gen Max has the VG30 & DOHC is VE...what is correct?

 

There were a few different variations of the VG engine. Here's a breakdown:

89-94 GXE and 89-91 SE had teh VG30E
92-94SE had the VE30DE

The VG engine was also used in the 300ZX

Z31 had the VG30E and VG30ET
Z32 had the VG30DE and VG30DETT
