I bought another flywheel off a salvage yard and took it to a machine shop and had it lightened. they took out about 2.5 lb off mine, and another .org member had about 3 lb taken out of his.
the cost of having this done is MUCH cheaper than buying a new aftermarket flywheel.
pics of mine are located on my website.

fly whell.
remenber wen they take the lbs. off they also take cm. off it, you need to know that because the cluch may not work like it should. remenber pressure plate meets with the flywheel, and they have a preset espace to work on, that is the reason i order my from stillen yesterday, i want no problem with my new ACT.cluch.

Re: fly whell.
Nope. That's not the way it works. The working surfaces of the flywheel stay exactly the same. Go have to know where the weight is taken off. That's why you take your flywheel to a qualified machine shop. Also if rookie-hack-boyz do you flywheel, you could end up with shapnel enema.

that's why you take the weight out of places where it's not needed. if you'll look at the pictures I posted, you'll plainly see that the weight removed was a ring around the outside BACK side of the plate- it's strictly there to add weight to the flywheel and make the car run smoother. thus removing it causes no ill-effect on reliability.
