need info on buying new WHEELS?

hey, I'm looking at buying some new wheels, I was checking around and places said the largest they made were 18"s, is that true that there are no 18"s for the 1992 GXE? Also, what do all those other numbers mean when talkintg about wheels and tires?

you can get up to 21" rims, but not on a maxima.
18" is the largest "feasible" on a Maxima, and I would only recommend going to 17"- especially if you like it to handle and ride well. 18" will be so rough and bumpy that it'll ruin the ride quality, and you risk bending the rim every time you hit a bump..
also tires are EXTREMELY expensive for 18" rims.
(stock 15" rims, tires are about $70 for decent ones. 16" are about 90$ for decent tires... 17" tires are easily $110 each.. it goes up from there.)
the other numbers are rim width and offset..
the widest you can run is 8" wide with like a 45mm offset or something like that.. stock 17" mustang rims will fit with no rubbing.
my rims are 16x7 with 35mm offset, and there is about 1/4" between the rim and strut body.. any lower ofset than 35mm, and you'll have problems.

I have 18x8's on my max and I think they are perfect. If you are worried about bending rims I would go with a 17" rim though. My ride quality isnt bad but is different from stock. I think the 18's look nicer but you'll probably be better off w/17's. The prices arent as much as people think. Tires are only about $10 more than 17's. That was a main concern for me when I bought mine. It's all about what you prefer, but I will tell you that 18's really look nice on a big car like the Maxima. There accually is a big difference in appearance compared to 17's.
92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.

To see if the rims fit on your car just call the company that sells them. They will know if that certain rim will fit. As for how easily the rims bend, you will be alright as lond as you dont hit any potholes going fast. I have already dented one of my rims and it cant be balenced now. I cant tell the difference though. They still ride great.
