gas milage
#1
What kind of milage do you get on your maxima? Ijust purchased a 91 w/ 145,000 miles and it was taken care of very well, all the records and such . Anyway, they have 18.5 gal tanks dont they ? I just filled up and only had to put in 14 gal of gas, but the gauge was below empty/light was on, and so forth. i just drove it to 110 miles on the odometer and refilled it ( it was 1/2 full on gauge) and put 6 gal in it. Is this normal milage or consuption/ readings for this car? I would think that 20mpg would be low for this car but i dont know? Oh yes, the ac was on too.

Garrrrrr! Now I forgot what the service manual says the
capacity of the fuel tank is, but 18.5 sounds close.
My '93 GXE has 127K on it and I can usually run 400+
miles between a fill-up and the time the low-fuel light
comes on. I find that it comes on when I still have
a couple of gallons in the tank, maybe that's to keep
to keep the fuel pump cool or something.
I get around 30mpg on the highway. I've gone 478 miles
on a tank before and still had a gallon or two left in
the tank. Some folks get really good gas mileage while
others get only adequate. Could be iffy injectors or
iffy O2 sensor, but I am not the one to answer thatquestion as I'm not a tech.

Probably should be getting more milage than what you are experiencing.
Try some feul injector cleaner, check the air filter and change the feul filter.
Just changed the feul filter on my 92 SE and my milage is better.
Maybe the gauge is off. Should go more that 110 miles on a half tank.

i've done my calculations since i bought my 92 SE (two weeks ago).. i get like 16 - 15 mpg.. including some highway driving... it doesn't matter whether i drive hard or easy.... so im guess even new fuel injectors rather than just cleaning them... and my tank i don't think it's 18.5... gotta look dat one up... or maybe different.

Checked the service manual; it is an 18.5 gallon tank.
Low fuel indicator light must come on when I have two
or two-and-a-half galons left
That's the thing that has always amazed me about this car;
all this power and comfort and still getting around 30mpg.
It's going to be hard to go back to driving my truck to
work and surrendering the car to my wife when she gets back
from her trip to the Philippines.
Better enjoy it while I can...

wow on the average you should be gettin 21-25 mpg on a tank.
though it does depend on your driving habbits. onmy vg max i get about 24mpg on the avg per tank. if you are getting less you should check out the emissions components. because 15-16 is awful low i guess with alot of city driving you could achieve that if you were romping from light to light.
just incase anyone dosent know the math (not saying that everyone doesent.) but here it is
Miles on trip meter/gallons at fill up=mpg avg. now dont forget to reset your trip meters all the time i recommend doing this on all fill ups so you can monitor your engines efficency.
Goodluck
