If you are just getting the timing belt replaced, most
places will charge you for about six hours labor at whatever
the going rate for shop hours is. My sister had hers done
about six months ago and the guy charged her around $350,
but he was an independent and his hourly rate was cheaper
than a dealership.
Will this be a major or minor service? Major will include
t-belt, three accessory belts, tensioner, water pump, and
thermostat, plus two cam seals. If it's a minor, it'll be
the t-belt and the accessory belts. In both cases they'll
have to drain your coolant as you need to remove some hoses
to get to the timing belt. You'll want to replace all the
belts at a 60K interval and do a major at every other
interval.
I just got through doing a major (120K service) on my '93
GXE. It wasn't that bad, but since I had never done any-
thing like it before, it took a lot longer than if I had
taken it into a shop and had it done...but my hourly rate
is cheap
and I got all the parts at 25% off list from
Coz at UltimateZ in Chicago. If you have it done in a shop,
they will buy the parts and mark them up accordingly. I
think I spent around $200 for parts to do the major. To do
a minor, it would've been just the cost of belts (probably
around $40) plus anti-freeze and a gallon of distilled H20.

possible concerning the 60K and 120K servicing...

ummm...if you're going to change the T-belt ALWAYS change the water pump while your in there. A) you're in there anyway...B) if you don't, it will probably go on you and you'll have to take everything apart anyway. the whole job including parts and labor will run you 350 (private) to about 700 (quotes i've gotten from dealers) i personally ordered my parts from courtesy nissan (also 25% off of list) and am having the dealer do the work in the next week or so. parts came to 200 for T-belt, h20 pump, tensioner, thermostat, 2 cam seals and all accessory/drive belts...
