I don't know if this is the definitive answer, but it works for me and our cars should be nearly identical. My setup is this and it works very well in terms of effectiveness:
I have 3 subs in 2 boxes. My 2 Pioneer 10's are both facing each other, but the plexiglass is facing the rear... for my Alpine 10 I put the armrest in the back down and took out the cardboard in between the interior and exterior. I then obviously faced the sub towards the front of the car so that my Alpine's bass goes directly into the cabin.. it's the next best thing to having a hatchback or having fold down seats. I would try what I did with my Alpine, and if you don't like it just face it towards the rear... also when you face one towards the interior it may be helpful to aim it at the roof of the interior if it's possible... I did that and it helped my bass even more..

yea i have my subs facing the armrest but i just kinda ghetto looked at it to see how to get the cardboard out, how would i go about removing the cardboard, do i have to unbolt the bar that runs across, or just the two screws near the top?

My internet hasn't been working, I'm at a friend's house... anyway, yeah you just gotta unscrew those screws, don't have to remove any bars. Hope that helps

I use to have 2 JL 15W4's ( facing the rear) and they rocked. But, I felt like it was time for a change so I bought 2 Audiobahn AW150S's 15's. I didn't have enough power to push 2 so a made a quick (temp) box for 1 of them and I faced it up between the 6x9's and it is louder than my 2 JL's. I don't even want the other one anymore so I'm going to sell it.
