ve heatsoak

heat soak isn't caused from the engine running hot- it's caused by the engine sucking in hot air and not producing at much power with it as it would if the engine was sucking in cold air....
yeah it does have to do with engine temp, but it's not the engine itself running hot in our case...
your best bet to combat the problem is to buy a cold air intake. they take an afternoon to install and run $160-250. placeracing and warpspeed performance both make them.
I've got a warpspeed on my car and I'm impressed with it.

Question for you Matt
I installed the CAI a few weeks ago and like it as well. I am curious if you have added a y-pipe to your VE. Does it make the difference people say it does when coupled with the new intake?

Y-pipe
You should do a search. You will feel a big difference. A lot of people have posted that the reason y-pipe mods work is that on a 4th gen Max. the pre-cats are removed. It's my belief that the reason is not pre-cats, but that the OE y-pipe has a design error.3rd Gen Max don't have precats and still have big gains with aftermarket y-pipes. The rear down pipe actually flows forward and enters against the exhaust flow of the front down pipe. ALL manufactures of aftermarket y-pipes switch the flow around, and presto more H/P. We also increase the size of pipe after plenum.Try it you will not be disapointed.
