funny smell when full throttle
no i didn't fart or anything, and i take showers... Recently i noticed bad egg smell coming from the car when I hit the gas hard to about 5k rpm. I think it's coming from the vents. I have a little heat on too. I'm pretty sure the smell is coming from the car because when I let the car cruise and no heavy gas, no smell. But when I punch it hard for a while around 4 to 5.5k rpm, I start getting this strange smell. What could be wrong with my 94 gxe? I think this problem has been around for a while, it's just that my foot isn't heavy with the gas pedal often.
Engine runs smooth, tranny shifts like butta and I can get 19.5 mpg local and 30 mpg highway. So there isn't anything mechanically wrong with the car that I know of.

rotten egg smell is usually caused by a failing catalytic convertor..
it has nothing to do with your heater, vents, or anything like that..
It shouldn't be tranny fluid, as the tranny is pretty much a sealed box and any fluids inside it can't get to outside air, unless there's a big leak somewhere (which will cause a loss in fluid pressure and big puddles)...

On that note, unless you can't stand the smell or the car doesn't pass emissions testing, you don't really have to replace the catalytic converter since this doesn't hurt anything. Cats can be expensive unless you get it from a junker or are (somehow) covered by emissions controls warranty from manufacturer - but have no clue about when it expires.

what does the catalytic convertor do exactly? How come it seems fine when the throttle is not wide open? If the catalytic convertor is failing, wouldn't I be able to notice the smell from the exhaust too when the car is on?

Go to the following link to see what a Cat does. At WOT you have a large amount of exhaust gas moving through the converter and because yours is most likely stuffed this is when the problem is most obvious. At partial throttle openings the Cat may just be able to work hence no smell. Over time you will get the smell most of the time.

then of course, they found about 15 other warranty problems and fixed those without charge. (stuff we didn't even notice..)
of course they fix the things we don't give a damn about, but won't fix the important stuff!

IF the catalytic convertor is shot. How much is it just for the CAT? It directly links to the y pipe right? If so, should I just get the performance y from warp and install it while im at it? Does it hurt to have a stock muffler with a y-pipe? I like a quiet ride and I want the max to breath well but don't want to be a bumble bee.

oh, one more thing. I might have my mechanic check it out this weekend. What's the best way to check if the cat is bad? Take the whole thing apart and examine it? And some1 said the cat is expensive but I saw warp sells CATs for 110 for the 89-94 max. Is it worth getting?
