Try running some of that injector cleaner through your engine. The O2 sensor may be bad too.

also, check your air filter/breather. these could be dirty and that can hurt your gas mileage.

A few things to check regularly to maintain healthy gas mileage:

-tire pressure. Especially on aftermarket rims/tires
-spark plugs. Gotta get enough spark for optimal combustion
-spark plug wires. Gotta get the spark to the plugs!
-air filter. Your engine needs to breathe. K&N all the way, I recommend the drop in despite what anyone else will tell you (especially Jiffy Lube!)
-ignition timing. You may need help with this one, and it requires special tools (timing gun, etc.)
-timing belt. They loosen up when they get old.
-intake and throttle body. Sometimes dirt can get in these and cause bad flow. Again, based on your experience you may need help.

If I can think of anything else I will post it. These should give you a good start though, and there are some really knowledgable and experienced people on these boards that can also help. Good luck!

try your fuel filter, it sometimes helps. Also the brand of gas is a thing too, Getty gas sucks

Yes, a dirty fuel filter will definitly hinder performance. And as far as gas, it just makes since to spend the extra pennies on premium. I can't put anything in mine below 93 octane due to my timing advance, but even in a car that is stock you save money in maint/repair in the long haul if you spend a little extra at the pump, no matter what your climate in your area. I can't recommend those off-the-shelf injection cleaners, however, due to the fact that some of the detergents found in a lot of those things can do more harm than good, especially in older engines. Take it to your mechanic and get a good professional fuel system cleaning and have your coolant system checked as well. These are both detremental to the performance of you car.

O2 sensors usually are the cause for poor gas mileage. A major tune up will make a big difference. Good Luck!!

Have you ever done a tuneup? How many miles are on the car?

my auto 92 SE...99K miles....i always put super 93 octane gas in....i get only 13-15 mpg (heh original sticker says 20-26).....i drive mainly to/from school and to/from work which is moderate stop and go but i mean cmon i think the 13-15 is WAY too low; i basically use 3/4 tank a week (18 gal tank)

Re: my MPG sucks too

You are however taking the # of miles driven and dividing them by the # of gals to top off the tank right? If not that is like doing a 0-60 and stopping the clock at 55mph LOL.

Re: Re: Re: my MPG sucks too

There are a couple of things to check. Make sure your EGR valve is working properly and if possible remove the control valve and clean it. Replace your fuel filter with a 90-95 300zx unit #FF651 at autozone. Clean your throttle body/intake collector that should help. Check your o2 sensor as described in the FSM. But if you do mostly stop and go driving that is the best you are going to do.
