Advice for buying a Maxima

Hello, I'm hopefully going to be a 3rd generation Maxima owner very soon and was wondering what kind of things you guys think I should look for before buying my car. I'm going to go test drive a few Max's tomorrow (89-91 SE 5 speed) so any help on certain things to watch out for that are common problems on these cars would be helpful. I currently have an 84 300zx and want a roomier car and have always loved 89-94 Maximas. Are there generally major problems when their mileage gets over 125,000 or so or are they still pretty reliable? What kind of things should I look for or listen for when driving it and looking under the hood? Do the manual transmissions last? (the synchros on my Z are pretty much shot). I'm pretty familiar with these engines since my 300zx had the same one and I had to rip it apart after my sister ruined it. I have the engine block and the cylinder heads in good shape and was wondering if they are the exact same for the Maxima in case I had to replace the engine. Any info is greatly appreciated,

Thanks, Lonny

Well.......

just look out for the exhaust manifold studs and thats about it for the major repairs! other than that, regular maintenence and all that good stuff and the car should last a lifetime! not sure about the issue with the heads though... I would think so though, considering they are both n/a VGs....

Should be the same. If you go to Z31.COM then you will see he has an article on how to convert a maxima engine to a Z engine.
