Do I need to drop the rack to get to this motor mount?

Which side is the mount on? Driver side or passenger side?

nope...the rack stays...you MIGHT need to pull the Y-pipe off..unless you drop the entire cross member down.

no, you don't have to touch the rack, but you have to unbolt the y-pipe from the headers so that you can move it to one side. that way you can loosen the bolts from the mount to the cross member and then loosen the bolt from the mount to the block. then put something sturdy enough under the oil pan of the motor and the tranny for support so that you can undo the bolts to the cross member so that you can take off the rear mount. i don't recall if you have to mess with the passenger side axle in order to have more access to the mount. i changed all my mounts when i did my engine and tranny swap. but i will be tackling this job soon as my rear mount is already giving out on me. so good luck.

i would suggest using a scissor jack and a block of wood. that way you can just gently back the engine-to-mount bolt and adjust engine height so the bolt comes out with very little effort... and when you're done, everything will be lined up exactly provided you don't touch the jack once the height is set. it made my life very very easy when trying to install a front mount in mostly-darkness.
