Wiper problem

Hi everyone,

Well my problem is simple to explain. My driver's side wiper has stopped functionning. I checked to see if the bolt holding the arm is tight enough, and everything looks normal. The passenger side wiper works fine. So I am assuming the motor is doing its job but maybe the pin is broker. Anyhow, can anyone point me out in the right direction, it is raining lots here these days and for obvious reasons I need this problem fixed pretty soon !

PS: If someone has a diagram of the wiper assembly, that would help me alot. I looked in the Nissan service manual but did not find a thing.

Thanks in advance,

Mat

the same thing happened to me like 4 months ago and it turned out to be the control linkage on the driver side that popped off from the passenger side joint. i only replaced the driver side link that i got from the an SE in the junkyard. so most likely its the same for you. i removed my hood and the cover under the wipers to have a great amount of room to change the part. good luck.

Hey,

My problem was different than yours. My linkage were fine, the problem was that the pivots were crooked/bent due to weat and tear which forced the linkage to come off. Therefore, I needed to change the driver's side pivot. But,while I was in there, I decided to change the other one as well. Cost of the parts $CAD110.00. That includes the 2 pivots and 6 bolts.

While doing this repair, which I will finish tonight after work, since I only got the parts today, I noticed how well made these cars really are. I mean I know this might sound weird but I found the engineers must have put alot of thought and work designing all the wiper assembly and related parts (covers, rubbers, pins, screws, etc...)

Finally, while doing that job, I decided that I was sick of using a stick to hold my hood up. So I wanted to get 1 new hood strut since one of them was shot. I ordered one from a local part store for $35.00. But while I was at the dealership paying for my parts, I asked the guy how much it would be for 1 hood strut. The guy told me that they were pretty expensive, the price.......................................$223.5 0 !!!!!!!!!!!I could not believe it. We both laughed and aggreed that it was a ridiculous price.

Anyhow, just thought I would share.

I replaced one of those pivots (drivers side). Cost me $40 from the dealership, had to buy my own bolts. I also replaced the linkage on the Passengers side. That was $10 from the parts store, and a royal pain in the back side to put on. It took me a couple of hours of fussing around to figure out how to get that stupid thing snapped back on to the wiper motor end.
