basically all that happened is that the solenoid A wire somehow came undone when i was reconnecting the harness, so it is only using 2nd and 3rd. I set up the control loop so i can switch between automatic and failsafe (no power to either solenoid is 3rd gear) right now, and i can also actuate the torque converter lockup. Now, once I wire the other switches, then I can then manually control voltage across the solenoid circuits, in which case i can shift through all 4 gears. instead of just 3rd..

It's just that until I rehook that one wire, I am on 2 gears. Which kinda sucks and i'm not 100% sure at what point along the line the wire came out, but I'll check up on it and I should be finished tomorrow.

fixed for now. one of my wires on the auto/failsafe switch for solenoid A has a loose connection on a quick-disconnect's crimp. Gonna find it, cut, and retip it. Should be fine after that. If signal to A dies in mid-drive, you are limited to 2 and 3. If signal to B dies in mid-drive, you are limited to 3 and 4. So better A than B. If B suddenly comes on while A is already on, then you need new autotranny. Basically a 4-1 downshift. But in the case of a loose wire that shouldn't happen. Unless you just plain screw up, but that can happen on manual too.
