My BOSE died!
My BOSE died!
Hi All..
1990 SE..Bose system (I never thought much of it!).
The system has been hanging on with much hissing and one side of the car dead.
And now, with a loud volume increase for 10 seconds, the whole thing died.
The H/U lights up..but not a sound from any speaker.
I need a clue where to start.
I see in the service manual there are amps behind all the speakers..but I wonder if the H/U is blown, since there is no sound anywhere?
Any help or tips would be appreciated. I am willing to buy a new H/U, if needed, just so I can listen to the local radio.
Thanks,

Thanks,
well im not sure but usually when the amps go u still hear a whine or buzzing and sinceu hear nothing, maybe head unit? I am running the stock bose speakers (only fronts are still in the car) off the stock amps with a stock non bose 92 radio/tape player. speakers are good sounding and loud but sometimes theres a whine and sometiems when u accelerate the whine gets louder. probably becasue of the head unit im using, but it doesnt really bother me, my daily driver doesnt have bose so no problems with the aftermarket cd player there. but while were on this thread, can an aftermarket headunit power the speakers if i decide to bypass the amps?
