so i decided to check the timing today and it was 10 degrees advanced. did the person i bought it from do this to get more power?( i heard you could advance a couple degrees to get a little more power but something about ruining your lifters) the reason i checked it is because my car starts like crap in the morning/when its very cold. and recently the starter started grinding. pretty much its impossible to turn the crankshaft when its cold.and then when i did start to turn over it would die just like it wasnt getting gas or something. now if i held the gas to the floor it would rev up and then when i let off it would idle and slowly drop then die. i have to hold the gas for a couple seconds for it not to die. runs fine after that and when its not cold starts great.

 

o yeah and its a vg and i timed it to 17 degrees now.

yes sir.

 

also having good injectors only fixed how it was running lean at idle. did not fix the stumbling at all.

 

Did you pull your water temp sensor and measure it's hot and cold resistance?

 

My vote's for starter, they're finicky when cold....... and it IS grinding.

this is the 8th starter ive had and they all seem to stick at a month in. and i really dont want to put another flywheel in soon. its brand new. and none of this explains why after the starter does get going why it just stumbles to a halt.

 

cheap crap quality starters it sounds like you're getting.

 

any recomendations? tried nissans, autozones, checkers, some nismo cheap aftermarket thing none seem to last.

 

stock going to major chains and visit the mom and pop stores in the area that sell to the local garages. They have more interest in stocking a quality product because the stores don't want a comeback.
