Alright, this is me tackling an old issue I never dealt with. When I added 2k3 SE rims to my car it required me to put spacers on the rear wheels. I bought the spacers from Napa which are 5/16" (~8mm) thick. I am still running the stock 42mm wheel studs, which is frankly a safety issue. Ideally I need some 50mm studs. I tried to get some from ichibausa.com awhile back, but they were back ordered for months so I ended up cancelling the order.

Fast forward to the last few days where I have a renewed interest in ordering the proper studs. I can go two routes with this:

1) Order Nismo studs from Courtesy for the incredibly steep price of $65.17 before shipping. Not only that, they don't specify whether the studs are for the front or rear hubs. http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...=40222-RS01510

2) Try again to order from ichibausa for a much more reasonable $2 a piece. The only problem is I'm not quite sure whether I need the ones on the bottom or the ones second from the bottom. I determined I needed 50mm studs, but the web site suggests using 45mm studs for a spacer of the thickness mine are (8mm). Interesting, considering stock studs are 42mm and the site recommends 35mm studs for 5mm spacers. http://www.ichibausa.com/nissan3.html

Also (shouldn't be a huge deal), but the ichiba studs have a 12.75mm knurl and the stock ones have a 12.83mm knurl.

Anyone care to help me determine which ones I need? BTW, I still have drums in back which I plan to swap for discs over the summer. Hopefully, I'll be able to reuse the studs.

 

I ran 5mm Crow Automotive spacers w/ stock studs on the front of my car for a long time and never had any issues. If you are worried about not being able to use the studs after you upgrade your brakes, I would just keep an eye on them and make sure they are torqued properly.

 

I will, but I have to figure out what studs I need, buy them, and install them before I even think about using them when I swap my brakes. Let's focus on the issue at hand...

The two on the bottom are 50mm and 60mm lengths for the rear, with a 13mm knurl diameter. The two on the top are 50mm and 60mm lengths for the front, with a 14.3mm knurl diameter. Hope that helps...after a month of searching that was the best I could find for 10 studs, that are either genuine NISMO or ARP studs. You don't want to cheap out on brand. Generally, with hardware, you get what you pay for.

 

Still too expensive for what you're getting, Traxtar. I think ichibausa will work just fine. Hopefully they're not on back-order this time...

 

Ok, I think I have it figured out...I need the ones second from the bottom. When we have been talking about the studs we have been referring to the overall length. They are referring to the thread length. So ichibausa's suggestions on which ones to purchase are valid.

 

OK, I just ordered some. 20 bucks for the studs...and another 20 for shipping! WTF? Anyway, it's been taken care of...

 

Sounds good, but you could have bought those on eBay for $33 shipped. Also, the 12.75 spline diameter is too small and the rear wheel spline diameter is ~13mm (as you already pointed out). That would make me nervous personally, but hey....it's not me. Let us know how they fit.

 

Knurl diameter is 12.83, I think 12.75mm should fit in there just fine. Got an ebay link?

they won't stay in place because the stud is smaller than the hole it's going into.

 

If they don't fit snugly I've got a few tricks up my sleeve to make them fit...
