RE4F02A Filter Design - Can Someone Describe?

Does my trans have a strainer or a cotton filter? If a strainer, is this the reason why it can go essentially for the life of the car without being changed?

It's a strainer type filter, very inaccessible, very stupid design imo.

But the filter is not the problem with the vg auto, the filter doesn't get a chance to get clogged before the bands/planetary gears wear out before 130k.

Theres at least three screens like this, inside the 'brains'. One must be in the pump intake, Greeny's ref.
