Where did the Maxima lose it's height?

Height
1989-91: 55.1 in (1400 mm)
1992-94: 53 in (1346 mm)

What happened? Why is the 94 2 inchs lower than the 91?

Maybe they got different springs in those years? Is there anything specific on those specs though? Like 92-94 SE? Or do those #'s correspond to all Maximas in those year brackets?

Probably the SE/GXE spring difference. The wifey's gxe seems to be a little taller then my SE was with stock springs. I know for sure the oem gxe springs are softer compared to oem se springs, her car is cloudy floaty compared to what mine was with the stock springs.

same holds true even on the 89-91 tho... dunno about ride height, but the springrates are pretty different between gxe and se... i swapped them to SE and it rides alot firmer now.

i think the height difference between SE AND GXE is for handling and comfort purposes and plus maybe SE's sports tuned suspension made it lower for better handling.....

is this noticeable between when you sit down in your GXE vs sitting down in your SE? Like you fall down into the SE moreso than into the GXE?

Where did these numbers come from? My 94 FSM says 1400 and doesnt specify a trim. I see the 3mm difference in "wheelarch height" but you are saying another 51mm?

I think your numbers are wrong. Can you post a reference?

but then how do the Eibach springs lower 1.2 inches? You would think by now somebody would be on here complaining or bragging that his 91 GXE dropped 3 inchs or that his 93 SE gained an inch.

This just doesn't make sense to me. It's wikipedia so not the most infallible source but regardless it's still a bit frustrating for those of us who have eibachs and kybs in our closets who don't know if they will get 1.2 inches of drop or what.

... a GXE with eibachs will sit at the same height as an SE with eibachs... and according to the FSM it's only a .12" difference between SE and GXE so maybe the GXE will really drop 1.32"....

not really tho.....but i will have to say that, i have two buddies one is actually fat and he weight 240pounds and one is 6.5' and he weight about the same...and they both sit in my car (SE) my car looks lower compare to GXE ( when they both sitting in GXE too )....and i remember once someone was saying something to me about GXE AND SE that '' man GXEs are bigger than SEs and i said NO they r the same:S...but wen i bought GXE and found out that there is a height difference....then i understood wat he meant...GXE is a lil higher then SE (stock) thats why GXE looks bigger, thats about it.....but if u lower them both i think u have to lower GXE a bit more than SE to bring them to the same height....

if you put SE springs on the GXE it will sit exactly like an SE. If you put eibachs on either they will sit exactly the same.......... there are no structural differences between them. the GXE has a longer, softer spring, and the SE has a shorter, harder spring. so yea, if the GXE sits higher, then Eibachs will drop it slightly more than the SE... BUT, either way you are installing the exact same springs. it just depends what you started with as to how much you drop.

i have a feeling you're comparing an SE with a sunroof with a GXE without one. the sunroof takes up more space so the headliner may seem closer to your head.

Just out of curiousity...Has anyone ever seen or owned a Maxima with the "electronicly adjustable" suspension? I have been asked on several different occasions when buying parts if my vehicle was equipped with such. But I personally have never seen one or heard anything about that.
