TIMKEN Auto Trans Torque Converter Seal - 4 Spd - RE4F02A~RE4F02V~RL4F02A~RE4F04A~RE4F04V

The next day I discovered the CV boots were ripped in half... I replaced both axles and lost most of my new tranny fluid (why didn't I check those first?). I put in the new axles and topped off the tranny with more fluid. Next thing I start smelling this aweful smell like a skunk. I have cleaned the motor up and under three times. There are no spills, leaks or anything that I can find. Next I discover there is an overflow vent coming out of the top pan on the tranny. I double checked the fluid level. Still have this horrible smell. I drove the car about 300 miles and everything is shifting fine just a terrible skunk smell. I got worried....change the fluid again with Valvoline Dex/Merc III. Smell is better but still there. Did I say the car didn't smell before I changed the fluid?

Next, I start looking at running the tranny diagnostic spelled out in my Hanes Manual. Can't get the diagnotic to run, the O/D OFF light doesn't come on for 2 seconds like it is supposed to when you start the car. NEED HELP!! Does anybody have info. on this topic. I don't know what to try next shy of taking it somewhere and having my shirt ripped off.
idk man but maybe your seals are disintegrating. Ive heard that when the fluid is dark like that your not supposed to change the fluid because if u do your gonna blow seals out the ***. lol
i hope you get a useful responce man
