Weird noise has got me worrying
So its been about 2 weeks ive had this problem.theres a weird humming noise coming from the front, im honestly not quite sure what it could be, i doubt its the brakes dragging . it comes on when im driving " Hummm..HUmmmm..HUmmm"
im not sure if its the wheel bearing cuz ive just youtubed it to hear what it would sound like, but thats not it i dont think. Not sure at all what it is. i know what ive said is not much help but if anyone has any idea what it could be please let me know.

dam i wish there was an easier way to record the noise clip, thing is it comes on like not too often haha, but yea id probably have to record a long *** clip till it comes on, and then edit most of it out, ill keep this updated.

Jack the car up and grab the wheel and see if there's any free play in it. You shouldn't be able to move/wiggle it. If so, the wheel bearings are shot. It's possible for them to make quite a bit of noise too even if they don't have a bunch of play in them.
On my blue VE that I just finally got inspected and aligned yesterday, it's making some pretty loud bearing noise, even though there's no play in the bearings at all. It kind of sounds like cheap tire road noise to me rather than typical bearing noise, but the alignment tech agrees it's the bearings. Everything else in there is new so I don't know what else it could be

to be honest, it all makes sense now. there was a problem i didnt list at first. months ago, i noticed when i turn, a weird stretching noise would happen. but from listening to clips from youtube, im almost positive now its my wheel bearing. As for the humming noise, its getting worse as i drive. so yea im pretty positive it is my wheel bearing like you guys said. But i have a feel questions, is it okay to drive like this for awhile? Where could i pick up some good wheel bearings, and are there different brands? good or bad? etc. Please let me know. thanks

I wouldn't roll too long like that because it could mean the difference b/w new bearings or new hubs and bearings. Um I have a back up set for my 5th gen from Napa whenever they decide to go. Not quite sure what brand they are. Need to do same thing for 3rd gen.

yah I just replaced the hub on my gxe driver side. It would humm and growl so bad to the point I couldnt take it anymore! Now that Ive replaced that side, now the passenger side bearing is starting to make noise. Ha Just my luck! I need to also replace that metal dust cover on the driver side hub, because it makes too much noise. Has anyone taken that metal dust sheild off and had any problems??
