Heater Core

Would this be a bad heater core. I have to tap(hit) on my heater core to get my heater to work and kick on. So, could it be that my heater core is going bad or what could the problem be.

time for a new blower motor.
if you are handy you can sometimes fix a bad one by drilling into the end and spraying WD40 into there.

can you hear your your fan not working and then working after you hit it?

a little background for everybody else here 1993maximatag has been having problems with the engine temp going up and down. heater doesnt work when engine temp is high... which sounds to me like air in the cooling system correct?

The link below is his previous cooling system thread

well it's probably that he needs to bleed the system but also replace the blower motor.

from what i understand from texting with him he heater works when the engine temp is normal but not when the temp gets high. what i am thinking is happening is air collects in the heater core causing fluid flow issues. I was thinking that when he hits the fan area under the dash it is causing enough vibration to cause the air to migrate elsewhere thus causing the heater to work

so you are thinking that he is "burping" the system when he hits it?
not the craziest thought I've ever heard.
