Clutch won't relase.

Well I picked up a new maxima with the clutch grenaded to pieces. I replaced the clutch last night. Along with a new flywheel since it was beyond repair. Went to go for a test drive and can start in gear and go thats it. Clutch pedal is hard feels like a brake pedal and goes down 50-60% is all. I have bleed the clutch hoping that would work going to try a new slave cylinder later today. Any ideas.

sounds like maybe your slave cylinder is frozen up or something in the clutch assembly is in there wrong.

if i were you i would get a friend to watch as you pressed the pedal. since the pedal is moving it most likely isnt the master cyl. it sounds like the pressure is being transmitted down to a point where it hits a lot of resistance which is why it moves but stops and feels like a brake pedal.

if you cant see weather or not the slave cyl is moving or not, i would unbolt it from the tranny. if its moving then your problem is in the clutch area if it isnt, replace it and you should be good to go

Ya got it figured out. I have access to alldata. Belive Clutch pedal assembly can be saved. I am going to have to weld something together for the top bolt riped out. Big hole there.

Sadly your right and its got me worried. Im thinking it might be better to find a way to reinforce this area before it does break rather than waiting until it breaks and you have to weld it.

Akurtzer57 did this car have a heavy pressure plate in it and how many miles does the car have? Also did you get a new camera for christmas? The pic you posted today is soooo much better than all those you posted last week.

as stiff as my PP is i'm kindof worried too... but i'm fairly sure that mine is rust-free up there. what would you do to reinforce it with? It's not the world's easiest area to work in..
