haha im glad i got me a 3rd gen
do you already have rear discs? if you do, what you actually need is the calipers and torquemember and pads from the 91+ 3rd gen, then the 86 Z rear rotor. the bracket thing is for the 91+ people. you can keep your ebrake cables (if you already have discs) just look at the last post in the z writeup thread for a how-to on that.

the complication of converting to true z32 rear brakes far outweighs having the word "nissan" printed on the rear caliper. Hell, you can get some plastic caliper covers on ebay and put Nissan stickers on them. ricer, but if it's the look that you want, do it. the z31 rears will be plenty enough brake for your needs.

for the calipers and stuff.... just look at the partout threads on the max.org classifieds

well i'm just trying to understand what made you pull 90n/a out of a hat... why not the 91tt? or the 94n/a? just trying to understand your logic. why would you guess that the 90n/a would be bigger than _____ and what is _____?

idk what was going on in my mind. haha

i thought that the 90 n/a would be smaller than the tt sorry for the confusion

would it be a good idea to get the master cylinder off of one too or is the stock one fine?

stock one is fine. if you took the cyl you'd have to switch lines around because they aren't in the same order as the maxima mcyl. from what i've heard, all 1991 calipers (na or tt) are aluminum. some other years' trims have aluminum too but i know 1991 was aluminum regardless.

Fresh fluid helps. different fluids have different boiling points, so if you really heat up your brakes then you want a good fluid.

Not that bad really. I installed this set-up last summer and I still have a lot of pad left.

I dont skimp on brakes or brake fluid.

When I had OE brake fluid, the brakes felt spongy after awhile, but after I started using Super Blue, no such feeling after some hard driving.

It depends on lots of factors, but yeah, slotted rotors will "cheese-grater" pads to some extent. Usually that only happens when you get the brakes REALLY hot and the pads get soft.

I've run slotted rotors on my track car for years and haven't had problems. the pads last 3-4-5 track events, depending on temperature and track conditions, and I used to get the same life out of them with solid rotors as well.

One shop I know of takes a cut-off wheel and slots the rotors on all brake jobs, they say it stops squeaks.
