I would say probably about even if the VG 5spd has a good driver and well maintained car, you might wanna advance the timing too! but there will be no "walking" of the VE auto going on!

well if one car was going uphill and the other was going downhill, but the uphill one had a tailwind and the downhill one had a headwind, and was also being followed by a ****ed off semi truck driver....

I have been racing for well over 13 years and I have personally beating a ve stock auto with my vg stock on a open highway! Last I checked against my buddies electronic dash ve he topped out at 139 and I had a car and a half on him on a open highway in Nevada. I just recently checked my top speed with my latest mods and my top end is at about 145. So anything can be done if you can drive . I also kept up with a 2000 se even though they are quick there is always that one chance in what ever odds so try it for fun , what you got to lose if you beat'em thats one more for the vg family!

Uh... I think you have a VE and your friend has a vg. Electric dashes were only an option on 89-91 gxes (i think) and the 145mph speedometer is only avail on the 92-94 se.

Oh sorry. When he mentioned 145mph I thought he had a ve (since vg's only have 125mph/115mph speedos).

yeah but still I understood what you meant...unless he has an aftermarket speedo or speed meter of some sort, there is no way to measure more than 125-130mph on the VG like you said! well, except if you get caught on a cops radar, right Matt!

As far as I understood, stock auto VE's aren't that fast, and I think that a VG could keep up with one, especially if the VG is a 5spd with mods. If anything, my goal is to have my auto VG as fast as a stock auto VE. Only in time though since I'm broke.....

well the VE is no doubt a fast car for its class, considering it is a 7+ year old car and can still beat some of the newer 200hp autos, thats enough proof for me that its pretty quick!! and stock for stock I SERIOUSLY doubt a VG auto could keep up, the lack of highend and only 4spds just kills it for us! but I was always 50/50 on 5spd VG vs auto VE on paper the numbers are very close, but I've never seen a race between the two so I don't really know...

but the stock auto VE doesn't know i'm not stock just given enough of my hard-earned money and i'll show the auto VE not to mess with the *cough* better *cough* engine.

did someone say VG?

to tell you the truth, I've seen a VG auto with intake and advanced timing run a ~16.5 before and there is a guy who just posted in the 1/4th mile post claiming to have run a ~16.4 with intake and advanced timing also, so I guess it depends totally on the car cause 16.4's and .5's is stock VE auto territory!

I know you guys are skeptical about everything people say here but I assure you guys my car can run 145+ top end, and yes my car was clocked by a buddy of mine with the highway patrol here in my hometown! He is a really cool dude and if you catch him late at night you can even race his camaro. We also have a place where we go to race V8's to chop there heads off, us import guys are tired of the V8 clan giving us slack. Its time we show the american muscle who really is king of the road! And in my case its Nissan!!!!

Dude, if you have $10,000 that you can dump into a car. I would buy a new one reguardless of how much you like your VG. But, if a really fast VG floats your boat...you better have that thing deep in the 12's after 10 g's. That's a lot of money.

It's a lot more than $10,000 it's just that I'm willing to only put that in to the car.
