Newfound respect for 3rd gens
Here in ATL we had a meet and a 3rd gen guy came out. He is not on the board , but has a 92 160hp AUTO maxima. Custom CAI and muffler. He kept up well with my 97 se CAI,y-pipe,cat back. He was running pretty good with the 5 speeds as well.
I just wanted yall to know that he was representing yall well. AND the videos will be up in about a week or so.
Again I was impressed to say the least.

I was around this third gen for a while admiring his exhaust and the move's he was making on the 4th gen's and one 5th gen.
From a stop i could open up a gap on him but from a roll he was all over my car.
I call it precaution you may call it cowardice but i was not going to break out risky manuevoure's[sp] just to pass that car.
For the record i used to have a 92 GXE so i am familiar with the car and it's handling but if anyone in ATL want's to run a SLOW STOCK98 SE 5sp.........drop me line.

I have seen VE 5 speeds walk away from VQ 5 speeds. I actually have been around alot of 4th gens lately, and I must say I am not impressed. My next Max will be a 5th gen if I can get the money, but I will always keep the 3rd gen. 4th gens have major cutbacks from Nissan. Now I understand the whole MINIMA thing. Starting with no ABS, No independent rear, No rear struts instead shocks, No LSD, the list goes on!

hold on now! if there was major cutbacks why did nissan sell so many 4th gens? lets just agree that the max over the years has been improved with age.

They probaly sold so many because they did cutbacks and came out with a baseline model and were able to sell them new for less. Maybe, I don't know, I am just speculating.

That is correct, the reason for cutbacks is to lower the cost to the buyer. Trust I have seen the 4th gen in and out and the 3rd the build on the 3rd is alot better and no doubt cost Nissan more to produce.

well like i said overall the maxes have just gotten better over the years. now the whole idea of you smoking a 4th gen is a different subject. i have personally ran a lotta 3rd gens, they put up a good fight but no contest.

This looks like a race we need to get on video to prove the point. We have him racing me around that corner. Now we need to go on the highway and run em. I have no problem going over 120..no limiter. what do you think?

Well, I walked away from a certain member whom has a VQ auto. We were on the freeway going about 85mph. He was by himself. I had a full car, and I was walking away at about 100mph. Ask any SoCal member that has rode in my car. They will tell you the handling and power is insane.

Have you heard of the legendary Czar? 14.8 all day in his stock VE 5 speed with a pop charger and advanced timing. Look around there are several members with stock VE 5 speeds running low 15's high 14's all day. The VE and VQ 5 speeds are very close it all comes down to driver. I will own some "ish" when I do my secret VE transplant.
