upgrading the 1992 GXE engine to the SE engine

I have a friend that whants to upgrade his 1992 maxima GXE engine (3.0L 160hp V6) to the SE version (3.0L 190hp V6). What needs to be done in order for him to do this?

LOL

Let's see...
1) screwdriver (phillips AND flathead)
2) WD-40
3) LOTS of Double sided tape...

This ought to do it, right guys? Tell me if I left anything out...

well if the tranny will mate up, just buy the motor, mounts (if they're different), ECU, and any lines that may be different. go ahead and buy a CAI cause you'll need the intake. . . .am i leaving anything out? just sell it and buy a VE with a 5spd. . . .

He's asked me to find out if the trans did match or not, what if any lines needed to be changed, etc. He does not want to buy the engine just to find out he doesn't have the money buy another trans, etc.

if he doesn't have the money to do what is necessary, then he shouldn't do the swap. i guarantee while you do any engine swap you will find unexpected things. . . . just my .02

The transmission will not bolt up so he would have to do a tranny swap as well as other stuff. For the amount of money your friend will have to spend, he could sell his GXE and buy and SE and it'd be much cheaper...

Not only is the transmission not the same, but the harness,
computer, mounts, and axles would all have to be swapped out.
The spindles are also different on the VE...

I agree with what has been already said, it would be better to sell the GXE and buy a SE if said friend must have VE power. There still are ample mods for a VG however...

i'm sorry but i just don't understand what this guy is thinking? why would you do a swap like that? just sell it and buy an SE. it just seems like common sense to me.

why in the world would he wanna do that?
if he has the VG might as well swap to VG30(turbo).

Besides if he wants 190hp. with money he will spend on the swap he can easily mod his 160 to 190.

That is exactly the type of info i was looking for thank you. His idea was to upgrade the car he has right now sence he already has a emotional tie to it plus sence the insurnce would still consider it a older car his rates would not go up like it was a new car. plus doing the upgrades over time would make money less a issue. He also was thinking of the suspention, exhost, audio (already half done), etc. he put in the ultra white bulbs, a clarion reciever, amp new speakers he just likes to improve the car he already loves.
