Wheel bearing replacement

Ok. been driving on broken wheel bearing for quite some time now and I figure it's time to replace.

What signs of damage would I look for if I need to replace the wheel hub because of collateral damage from the bearing?

Also. if it were to say.... be grinding. is that the spindle? meaning replacement of such is required as well?

if the outer race has not spun, then the hub (the big piece, that everything bolts to) should be okay. if the inner race has not spun, then the spindle (part axle slides into) should be okay.
my recommendation, if either race has spun, there will be damage; it would be cheaper to go buy a junkyard replacement as an assembly, than to buy the parts to replace just the damaged pieces. if there is any grinding done on either surface, then that piece will be required to be replaced. the new bearing will not press correctly, and will wear the new bearing out much quicker, your alignment will be off, etc.

by all means, if you have a bearing, install it!I recommend new seals, even tho they are a little pricey.
all this, only for sake of mind. you don't really know for sure how many miles the bearing has, so you should do it. you wouldn't drive a "new" 3rd gen, without changing the t-belt, would you? (rhetorical, I know you would; I would, but not for too long.)
