We have it made
We have it made
We have the better car, the cooler car, the faster car, the nicer car, the more unique car and more, but they have a better chance of being jacked

Course that's only in OR, but I imagine it's close to the same nationwide..

None of those cars are worth much, do you think they are stolen to be used in robberies / other crimes because they are easier to steal than newer cars with more modern anti-theft technology?
I read an article today and the national numbers were about the same. The Accord was tops on the list but it was the newer body style. I know the Subaru isn't on the national list though (and man, you guys LOVE Subies up there
every other car I've seen up there is a Subie)
I sometimes worry about my Civic. It's basically 100% restored and bone-stock but I sometimes worry it's gonna get jacked when I'm out and about alot in it. Thankfully it's not a CRX. Those are virtually guaranteed to get jacked if they're ever out in public. Kinda sad, really..

They get stolen for parts. They get jacked, stripped, and then all the parts instantly show up on CL and eBay or even sold locally to shady mechanics, etc.
I think in Oregon, specifically Portland and Salem (two of the largest towns) there are pretty good rings of no good Honda owners. I mean kind of like the old BMX gangs when I was in middle school. Same kind of kids always trying to steal a Redline or a Diamondback. They just moved up to Hondas.
The biggest thing Honda has going for it is that virtually everything is interchangeable. Most of their cars are FWD, 4 cyl and everything swaps.

Funny thing is a hour ago driving i saw a JDM Accord, probably a 92. Turbo too, that thing was FAST
All i'm gonna say is in this city, ive youve got a car, get a Club or throw her in a garage, everything gets broken into here no matter how crappy.
Some JDM cars like JDM Civics get stolen in broad daylight here, just a month ago a JDM civic was taken from a mall at 1pm in the daylight here
and speaking of Diamondbacks, my first one got jacked when my garage was broken into, that thing was sick and they never found her. probably got stripped for parts

Yeah the Honda Accord tops the list also down here in South Carolina also. I remember when My 91 CHevy Baretta 5-speed got stolen, that was after my oil pump died, and I left it on that side of the road, and was never recovered!
I know late 80s/early 90s Toyotas are easy to steal. IIRC, they only have a handful of different key patterns. If you just take a key and try different Toyotas, eventually, you will open a door and drive off.
My friend had a late 80s 2wd truck and it was stolen 3 times and always recovered with no damage to the doors or lock. One time they took off the back bumper, another time they took some work clothes (Carhartt stuff) and once they only drive it like 5 miles and left it at the mall.

hondas are the same too from the 80's to 2000 flat the patters are basicly the same. i used a old 88 civic key on my friends crx *i moved it across his driveway* and my friends 94 civic. he wanted to see if it worked and it did. all you have to do is wiggle the key. thats why ill never own a honda
the key i have for it (def not the factory original key) still feels pretty sharp... esp compared to the camry's key. but i only have 1 key so copying a wornout key would still have he same result right?
It's makes plenty of sense to me...More Hondas are stolen than most cars cause maybe the ones being stolen are modded or used for B16/B18 VTEC swaps etc. No thier not well protected against a car thief. Any or either way Hondas apparently have the largest aftermarket performance marketof the Japanese Imports and there's plenty to be had...legally or illegally. PPL don't steal cars just cause they look good...Most of the time thier going after something that thier buddy has and they want...Yes alot of times it's someone who knows you or knows one of your so called buddies that after your ****...It really does suck when that's the deal!!!!
yeah, I usually try to get the original code and have it cut from that. makes a world of difference. Did that on my dad's del sol.
i'll have to look into that.... i know nissan got rid of the keycodes for older maximas, so i'm not really confident that i'll be able to find it for an even-older nissan.
nissan won't have it. you either need to be lucky and find it in the car or pull a lock and have the locksmith make a fresh key from it
